Fall in love with Fall biking

You had a great summer of riding, and now, as the days get shorter and the weather gets wetter, you want to extend your riding into the fall. But are you and your bike ready to handle the inclement conditions that fall can bring?

Let us help you with some tips to get you started:

  • Ensure you have proper lighting for fall riding. As it gets darker earlier , you want to ensure that you have both a headlight and tail light for maximum visibility. TIP: Think of all the angles a vehicle may see you from, especially from the side. A great test is to shine a flashlight on your bike from a distance, and you should see some reflective surfaces shining back.

  •  Get your bike ready for the slippery conditions by getting a fall tune, lowing your tire pressure, changing to a wet lubricant, and watching for debris buildup in the drivetrain. Wet lubricant does not wash off as easily in wet conditions but can cause debris to buildup in your drive train of leaves etc.

  • In Vancouver, it is ESSENTIAL to have rain gear. We recommend not only a rain jacket and pants but also weatherproof gloves. When you stay dry, you stay warm, which will allow you to continue to ride year round, rain or shine. We recommend Showers Pass Gloves.

Most importantly, enjoy your ride.
